What is recovery housing?

Recovery housing is a safe and healthy living environment that promotes abstinence from alcohol and other drugs. With peer support and accountability, relapse prevention, case management, employment skills training, and other assistance, residents will transition to living independently and productively in the community.

Men’s Recovery Housing

Cathy’s House provides Level I and Level II Recovery Housing for men. Cathy’s House is certified through Ohio Recovery Housing. Currently, Cathy’s House is the only certified recovery house in Medina county. This means that there are standards which are followed to ensure resident’s rights are protected and their mission continues.

Women’s  Recovery Housing

The Discovery Recovery House is owned and funded by the Medina County ADAMH Board and operated in collaboration with OhioGuidestone. Conveniently located on the Medina Human Services campus and near the transit loop, the Discovery Recovery House is a newly constructed Level III recovery house option for Medina County women in need. The facility is able to serve up to 12 women at a time, accommodating women age 18 and older, for a 24-hour sober residence, giving each resident access to substance use treatment, counseling services, daily 12-step meetings, peer support services, assistance looking for employment opportunities, and prosocial activities.
