The Board of Directors for the Medina County MHRB Board is a public body comprised of 14 volunteer county citizens who are appointed to the Board by the County Commissioners and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. The MHRB Board provides oversight and direction to multi-faceted, behavioral healthcare community programs and services. The Board’s providers offer treatment, prevention and education. In order to do this, the MHRB Board identifies needs, funds, monitors, and evaluates mental health and substance use services. These services are available to all citizens of Medina County, regardless of their ability to pay.
With information provided by the community and agencies, the Board determines the direction of mental health and substance use services and contracts for these services through private, non-profit service providers. The Board provides full or partial funding to these agencies from federal, state and local funds.
The County Commissioners appoint eight members to the MHRB Board, while the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services is responsible for appointing six members.

Yes, with respect to Mental Health, the Board’s highest service priority is to serve those individuals who are living with severe and persistent mental illness. Every biennium, the Board submits a community plan that can be found on the Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services website.
The Board meets on the third Thursday of every month (except December and July). Its Finance and Planning Committees meet on Tuesday evening of the week prior to the Board meeting. Times and dates are subject to change. All meetings will be posted in the newspaper.
